Admission Process | Abhay Internatinal School Admissions

The Admission process for Abhay International School involves several steps to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of prospective students.

Apply for Admission

Start here — tell us a little about the student and we'll guide you through the rest.

  1. Inquiry and Application Interested parents or guardians initiate the process by contacting the school, either online or in person, to request information about the admission procedure. They fill out an application form provided by the school, including essential details about the student's academic history, personal information, and any additional requirements.
  2. Submission of Documents Along with the application form, families must submit various documents such as academic transcripts, recommendation letters, medical records, birth certificates, and sometimes, a student's personal statement or essay.
  3. Entrance Exams or Assessments Many international schools conduct entrance exams or assessments to gauge a student's academic level, language proficiency, and sometimes, their cognitive abilities. These tests could cover subjects like Mathematics, English, and other relevant subjects.
  4. Interviews Some schools require interviews, either with the student alone or with the parents as well. The interview aims to understand the student's personality, interests, and goals, while also allowing the school to communicate its values and expectations to the family.
  5. Admission Decisions After reviewing all submitted materials, including test scores, interviews, and documents, the school's admission committee evaluates each application. They decide whether to offer admission based on various criteria such as academic performance, extracurricular activities, diversity, and the school's available space.
  6. Acceptance and Enrollment Upon acceptance, the school sends an official acceptance letter or email to the student along with enrollment instructions, including details on tuition fees, academic calendars, and required paperwork. Families then complete the enrollment process to secure the student's spot.
  7. Orientation Before the school year starts, many international schools hold orientation programs for new students and their families. This helps familiarize them with the school's culture, facilities, policies, and academic expectations.

Admission Cancellation, Fee Refund and Student Withdrawal Policy

The following terms and conditions shall apply to the admission, cancellation, withdrawal, and fee refund of students enrolled in the School. By accepting admission and/or continuing the student's enrollment, the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) acknowledge and agree to be bound by the terms of this Policy.

1. Cancellation of New Admission Before Commencement of the Academic Year

In the event that a newly admitted student is withdrawn or the admission is cancelled at any time prior to the commencement of the academic year, the following shall apply:

  • The Admission Fee, Registration Fee, Tuition Fee, and all other charges expressly designated by the School as non-refundable shall be strictly non-refundable and shall not be subject to any claim for refund, adjustment, or transfer.
  • Any amount paid towards uniforms, books, transportation, meals, activities, educational programmes, or other goods or services that have already been ordered, procured, supplied, reserved, or committed by the School shall likewise be non-refundable.
  • The School shall not be liable to refund any amount where expenditure or financial commitment has already been incurred by the School in connection with the student's admission, enrollment, or provision of services.
  • Cancellation of admission shall not entitle the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) to claim compensation, damages, interest, or any other amount from the School.

2. Withdrawal After Commencement of the Academic Year

If a student is withdrawn after the commencement of the academic year, no refund shall be payable in respect of the Admission Fee, Registration Fee, Tuition Fee, or any other fee or charge expressly designated as non-refundable by the School.

In addition:

  • Fees relating to any academic term, period, month, or other period that has commenced shall remain payable and shall not ordinarily be refundable merely because the student ceases to attend the School.
  • Charges relating to services, facilities, activities, transportation, meals, books, uniforms, or other items already provided, ordered, reserved, or committed shall not be refundable.
  • Any outstanding fees, dues, charges, or other financial obligations payable by the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) shall be settled in full, notwithstanding the withdrawal of the student.
  • The discontinuation of attendance by a student shall not, by itself, constitute cancellation of the Parent(s)/Guardian(s)' financial obligations to the School.

3. Withdrawal of an Existing Student - Three-Month Notice Requirement

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) intending to withdraw an existing student from the School must submit a formal written withdrawal request to the School at least three (3) months prior to the commencement of the next academic year.

The three-month notice period is mandatory and shall be strictly adhered to.

Accordingly:

  • Oral requests, telephone communications, messages, or informal communications shall not constitute valid notice of withdrawal unless expressly accepted in writing by the School.
  • The withdrawal notice shall be effective only upon receipt and acknowledgment by the School.
  • Where the required three-month notice is not provided, the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) shall remain liable for such fees and charges as may become due under the School's applicable fee structure and withdrawal policy.
  • Submission of a withdrawal request does not, by itself, relieve the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of any outstanding or future financial obligations arising under the applicable notice period.
  • The School reserves the right to determine the effective date of withdrawal in accordance with this Policy and the applicable academic and administrative calendar.

4. Fees Payable Up to the Effective Date of Withdrawal

  • All fees, charges, and other amounts that have become due or payable up to and including the effective date of withdrawal shall remain fully payable by the Parent(s)/Guardian(s).
  • Any outstanding amount must be cleared in full in accordance with the School's prescribed payment procedures.

5. Clearance of Outstanding Dues and Release of Documents

  • The School reserves the right, to the extent permitted by applicable law and regulations, to require clearance of all outstanding fees and dues before processing the issuance or release of the student's Transfer Certificate, Leaving Certificate, academic records, reports, or other documents, subject to applicable legal requirements.
  • The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) shall ensure that all financial and administrative obligations are duly settled before completion of the withdrawal process.

6. Acknowledgement and Acceptance

  • By signing the Admission Form and/or accepting admission to the School, the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted the terms of this Admission Cancellation, Fee Refund and Student Withdrawal Policy.
  • The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) further acknowledge that the fee obligations and withdrawal requirements contained herein form an integral part of the terms and conditions governing the student's admission and enrollment.
  • The School reserves the right to amend or update this Policy from time to time, subject to applicable law and regulatory requirements.
